Abstract

217,097. Faram, A. H. Aug. 21, 1923. Sliding-jaw wrenches of the kind comprising a solid head having one jaw formed integral therewith and a sliding jaw member guided in a slot in the head and actuated' to grip the work by a lever pivoted to the slotted head and provided with teeth engaging rack teeth on the sliding jaw member, are constructed with a slot on one side of the sliding jaw member to engage a corresponding ledge in the head and with a flat plane surface in the head, such construction facilitating production with a minimum number of simple milling operations ana providing ample wearing surfaces. The movable jaw member c slides in the slotted head a carrying the fixed jaw b and is actuated by the lever h pivoted' at k and having teeth g engaging the rack teeth f. One side of the movable jaw member c has a flat surface d and the other side has a bearing surface e<1> and a groove e engaging a ledge in the head.
