193,476. British United Shoe Machinery Co., Ltd., (United Shoe Machinery Corporation). Nov. 22, 1921. Controlling clutches.-In starting electrically-driven clicking presses or other machine tools, in order to prevent the motor from being started under load, a power transmission clutch is locked in its inoperative position until a controller handle has been moved to start the driving motor. In one construction, a pivoted latch 1 linked to the controller handle 6 prevents the movement of a clutching lever 8 until the handle has been moved to start the motor. In an alternative construction the latch is actuated by an electromagnet. Specification 6165/10, [Class 103 (i), Brakes &c.], is referred to.
