Clutches, friction.-A clutch for a wire-drawing machine comprises a series of annular plates 72 secured to the driven boss 70 by a key 71, the plates being interposed between similar plates 73 secured by a key 71 to the drawing drum 17. The clutch is engaged by an end plate 76 mounted on a rod 77 which is positively driven by the driving shaft, and is moved axially bv a lever 82. A brake 89 splined at 78<1> on the frame of the machine is moved by an internal spring 87 into contact with the face of a wheel 90 secured to the driving drum when the clutch is disengaged.
