Abstract

191,749. M³ller, C. H. F., [Firm of]. Jan. 14, 1922, [Convention date]. Vacuum tubes; R÷ntgen-ray tubes. - In a high vacuum device for the production of cathode or R÷ntgen rays, in which a discharge. is produced between two or more electrodes spaced a short distance apart, the cathode consists of one or more thin wires with a highly curved surface facing the other electrode. The wire may be in the form cf a sharply curved loop 2 in a plane at right angles to a flat anode 1, and may be heated to incandescence by current from a battery 5, for removing gas from the anode during manufacture. The gap between the electrodes may be a few millimeters only. In another arrangement several wire loops are mounted inside an anode of hemispherical or .semi-cylindrical form. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), comprises also the use of the wires for producing a thermionic discharge. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
