Abstract

Battery lamps; holders.-In a miner's lamp, the holder c for the bulb is soldered to the edge of an aperture in a metal strip a and passes through a flat fibre ring b above the strip. Two screws g securing the strip a and ring to the lid of the battery casing pass through openended slots in the strip to allow removal of the strip and holder. Two other screws permanently attach the ring to the lid. Rotation of the lid causes the lamp to be switched on and off by making and breaking contact between one battery terminal and the strip a. A cylinder e for a central plunger contact in the holder is supported by a second fibre ring d and is recessed at its closed end for engagement with the second plunger contact of the battery.
