Battery lamps. - In a hand or pocket lamp, a support for a lamp-bulb, such as a reflector E, Fig. 2, can be attached at will to the side or end of a metal case, and in either position brings one terminal of the bulb into connexion with a battery-terminal through a fixed metal plate F, the circuit being completed through the case and a switch. This enables the direction of the light to be varied, and the reflectors and bulbs to be changed, and also facilitates packing. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the insulated metal plate F bears a spring contactstrip H, shaped so as to bear against the central contact of the lamp-bulb when the reflector E is screwed into either the side or end of the case. In a modification, Fig. 5, the reflector E is carried by a right-angled plate J which slides in grooves K and can be reversed. The reflector carries a spring strip L, which connects the lamp with the contact-spring H. In another modification, Fig. 7, the bent plate J carrying the reflector is pivoted in brackets R and can be turned through a right-angle from the position shown. A hinged plate S covers the slot thereby exposed in the end of the casing.
