Regulating delivery by by-passes; regulating delivery by opening suction valves. - In a fuel-pump for internalcombustion engines in which the delivery is arranged to take place during the latter part of the plunger stroke by keeping a by-pass valve or the suction valve normally open and allowing it to close at a point in the delivery stroke determined by the stroke of the engine, the by-pass valve i is kept open by a lever k provided with a movable fulcrum l under governor control and actuated by the pump lever s during the delivery stroke to enable the valve to be closed by a spring u. Instead of the by-pass valve, the suction valve may be similarly controlled.
