Abstract
2322. Alard, L. May 2, 1913, [Convention date]. [Addition to 2159/14.] Projectiles. - Relates to braking-devices attached to projectiles for modifying their trajectory as described in the parent Specification, and consists in the addition thereto of means for varying the braking effect of the devices. In one form, as shown in Fig. 1, a ring 1 is placed around the wings b and provided with a screw 2 to secure it in various positions to limit more or less, as desired, the outward position of the wings when they open out during flight. In a modification, an additional ring with wings similar to the main one is adapted to be fitted within the latter to increase its effect. In other modifications, the wings open rearwards instead of forwards, and, in some, the wings are not initially completely split apart but merely divided by weakened grooves, and are split apart by the explosion of a small explosive charge fired by a time fuse.
