Abstract
524. Pentony, R., and Dorman & Co., W. H. Jan. 8. Crank chambers.-In an engine in which the crank chamber extends beyond the mouth of the cylinder and encloses the valve - actuating mechanism, a valve-stem guide A<5> projects into the crank chamber as shown in Fig. 2 and access to the chamber is obtained by the removal of a single cover C<5>, Fig. 2, or by the removal of a pair of covers, one of which exposes the valve mechanism and the other the crank-shaft. Each valve stem is actuated by a cam which engages a hinged distance-piece E<2>, the stem of the valve carrying an adjustable contact-piece B<3>, B<5>.
