21,784. Pudumjee, D. D. Sept. 26. Gins.-The lever C for oscillating the beater of a Macarthy double-roller cotton gin has a parallel-sided slot of tapered cross-section. In this slot runs a tapered roller E, which takes the place of the ordinary split die, and within the roller E is a tapered bush F through which the crank-pin passes and in which it is fixed. Rolling friction so established diminishes wear, which is taken up by axial adjustment, and shocks due to irregular wear are eliminated.
