Abstract
8806. Spach, G. May 24, 1912, [Convention date]. Feeding, winding, and registering webs; collapsible spindles.-In apparatus for ensuring the uniform stretching of spindle bands, any increase in the tension of the strap 1 releases the brake 3 and so allows the strap to be drawn more quickly from the roller 2. The brake strap 5 carries a weight 7 or a spring. The spindle strap 1 passes around a pulley 10, which is connected by a strap 12 to the weight 7. If the strap tension increases, the pulley 10 and consequently the weight 7 are raised, so untensioning the strap 5 and releasing the brake 3.
