Abstract
19111066. Thompson, W. P., [Webster, W.]. Jan. 14. Cores, covering by winding. - A machine for making cords from quill substances, of the type in which the quills are divided into strips which are bound together by thread and wound upon bobbins, is fitted with a tensioning or feeding device between the binders and the bobbins by means of which the separate cords are prevented from becoming entangled and a more uniform winding is secured. The tensioning-device consists of a rotating shaft 13, Figs. 1 and 2, round which the cords 9 pass and rubber rollers 12 which hold the cords in contact with the shaft. Guides 14, Fig. 2, are provided to prevent the cords from slipping along the shaft. In the example shown, the shaft 13 serves to tension six cords as they pass from the binders 6 to the bobbins 16.
