5291. Buch, M. March 3. Hoods.-To facilitate the manipulation of a hood extension of the type shown, one of the links D is extended beyond its pivot on the rear hoop - stick B to form a short lever arm H which is connected bv a link J to the link E so that raising of the link D for collapsing the extension lowers the link E and breaks the joint E<2> between that link and the front hoop frame K. The parts may be so proportioned as to be balanced, thereby rendering it equally easy to open or collapse the extension. The lever arm H may be formed on the link E instead of on the link D as shown. A link L connects the frame K to the link D which may carry a hoop D<1>.
