Abstract

1095. Atkins, E. Jan. 14. Folding vehicles.-Relates to vehicles of the kind in which parallel upper and lower frames D, A of the undercarriage are pivoted to the handle frame C and are connected by links which allow them to move downwards parallel to each other when the frame C is moved forwards to collapse the parts. The pivotal connexions are such that the frame C in its folded position is parallel to the frames D, A, the frame A carrying upwardly-projecting bars C<3> to which the frame C is pivoted at C', and the frame C carrying similar forwardly - projecting bars to which the frame D is pivoted at C<2>. The arms F carrying the body and hood are pivoted to the frame C and are connected by links F' to the frame D so that they remain parallel to the frames D, A during the folding operation. The parts are held in position for use by folding stays H. A footboard frame E, pivoted to the frame D, is held in the raised position by folding stays E<2>, and in the folded position fits recesses in the frame D.
