Abstract

[Addition to 17,508/11.] Controlling superheaters.-The pipe supplying steam to the draught-retarding nozzles is provided with a valve which may be set to regulate the relative amounts of steam passing to the nozzles and blower. The pipes from which the nozzles are taken off are mounted in suitable supports on the smoke-box side of the ends of the superheating-elements. The supply of steam to the pipes 8 from which the nozzles 9 project into the ends of the smoke-tubes 4 is regulated by a valve 27 in a casing 16 connected to the boiler by a pipe 6 and to the blower by a pipe 21. The pipes 8 are supported by bars 33 secured to the superheater headers and provided with hooks and clips which surround the pipes. Washers 14 are screwed on the inner ends of nozzles to support them centrally between the superheating-elements. The ends of the pipes 8 and the outer ends of the nozzles are closed by screwed plugs, which may be removed for cleaning purposes.
