Controlling superheaters.-In locomotive or other boilers having superheating-tubes fitted in enlarged smoke-tubes, the draught through the latter is retarded or stopped when the regulator is closed by steam injected into the smoke-box ends of the tubes. Fig. 2 shows the arrangement. The steam is supplied from nozzles 9 projecting into the enlarged tubes 4 and supported in a central position by the limbs of the superheating-tubes 3. The nozzles are connected by branch pipes 8 with a pipe 6, which is preferably the supply pipe to the usual steam blower of the locomotive.
