Abstract

107,316. Kirke, P. St. G. Oct. 4, 1916. Fire and smoke tube superheaters. - Superheating-coils 8 inserted in a boiler smoke-tube 2 are enclosed at each end by packing-material 3, 9. The packing 3 between the coils and the mixing- chamber 7 for the fuel and air from the burner nozzle is preferably of the kind described in Specification 17842/15, [Class 51 (i), Furnaces and kilns, Combustion apparatus of]. The packing 9 is pointed against the direction of flow of the gases, and is formed with ribs 9<a>, and with slots tc receive the ends of the superheating-coils.
