Abstract

13,373. Adde, S. June 8, 1911, [Convention date]. Explosives.-Consists in the use in explosives of the liquid mother lyes from the manufacture of nitroxylenes, nitrocumenes, and bi- and trinitrobenzenes; these alone or in admixtures are gelatinized with nitrocellulose with or without nitroglycerine and mixed with chlorates, perchlorates, or nitrates, and, in some cases, with carbonaceous substances, and ferro-silicon. An example contains: Mother lye from the crystallization of trinitrobenzene 28 per cent, nitrocellulose 1 per cent, perchlorate of ammonia 64 per cent, and ferro-silicon 7 per cent.
