Spray carburettors.-The atomizing-device is arranged in the admission pipe of a four-strokecycle engine near the admission valve, which is not opened until the end of the suction stroke; so that a strong rush of air past the fuelnozzle is obtained. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the atomizing-device i is of the kind described in Specification 18,930/09 for atomizing heavy fuels, but in a modified construction, an ordinary jet leading from a constant-level device is used. The outer end of the conduit b, opening to the atmosphere, is provided with a throttle h, which is closed at starting in the form shown, and afterwards used to control the strength of the mixture. As an alternative method of starting, a cock for introducing a light fuel may be mounted on the conduit b.
