Abstract

2818. Arter, A. M., and Arter, E. Feb. 3. Torsional springs. - Consists in forming a spring shaft coupling by pivotally connecting the shafts 1, 2, Figs. 2 and 3, to one or more flexible members 4 of rectangular or approximately rectangular cross-section. The corresponding faces at the ends of the members 4 may lie in the same or parallel planes or in different planes, the latter form being shown in Fig. 4. The middle part of the member may be twisted, while the ends remain parallel. The intermediate member or members may be enclosed in a tube to prevent bending at high speed. The flexible members may also be of approximately I-section. Specification 12,841 / 89, [Class 12,. Bearings &c.]. is referred to.
