Shaft couplings ; universal joints.-A flexible coupling, to allow slight angular displacement of a pair of shafts, particularly intended for connecting the shaft of a turbine to that of an electric generator, or for turbo - generators in which the shafts are arranged vertically &c., consists of a pair of annular disks a, b of the form shown, which are secured to the extremities of the shafts c, d and taper in thickness so that the torsional strength is practically the same at any radius, and are connected together by bolts e at their thickened or flanged peripheries.
