Mountings.-Relates to elevating-gear of the kind in which the firing-device is combined with the elevating hand-wheel or handle, and consists in the combination therewith of a two-speed gear, which comprises two bevel or other pinions, of different diameters, on the shaft of the elevating handle or hand-wheel, in gear with two other pinions on the elevating-shaft, or on a shaft geared directly with the elevating-shaft. The pinions of one pair are fixed to their shaft. while the pinions of the other pair are loose, but either one of the loose pinions may be connected to its shaft by a clutch. Fig. 1 is a sectional plan of one construction, which includes an electric firing-device of the kind described in Specification 27,994/10. The shaft A<Î> of the elevating-gear handle A carries loosely two pinions A<3>, A<4>, which gear respectively with pinions a<3>, a<4> on a parallel spindle A<5>. A bevelpinion a<5> on the spindle A<5> gears with a pinion a<2> on the elevating-gear shaft A<2>. The pinions A<3>, A<4> have clutch teeth A<3Î>, A<4Î> adapted to be engaged by teeth on a sliding clutch-member A<6>, keyed to the shaft AX and actuated by a hand-lever a<6>, a<7>.
