Abstract

19,514. Willis, P. R. J., [Smith, J. A.]. Sept. 1. Wrenches.-In wrenches of the kind in which one jaw is both slidably and pivotally mounted in respect of a fixed jaw and in which the jaws as a whole may be set at various angles with the handle, the movable jaw is provided with a reversible attachment adapted, in cooperation with the fixed jaw, to grip round or angular articles. The movable jaw 11 is mounted upon a pivot 12 in a channeled block 9 slidable by worm and rack gear 15, 7 in the head of the wrench. The reversible attachment piece 17 has flat and serrated faces 18, 19 respectively and is held with either face opposed to the face of the fixed jaw 1 by means of a spring catch 20 engaging notches 21 to retain ridges 22 in engagement with a notch 23 in the jaw 11. The head of the wrench is con. nected to the handle 25 by a toothed circular part 5, pivoted in a fork 24 of the handle and held in the adjusted position by pawls 27 controlled by a spring 29.
