Sliding-jaw wrenches ; jaw faces and attachments. -In a wrench of the type comprising a shank with a fixed jaw, a movable jaw with front and rear straps slidable on the shank, a pawl arranged in the straps, and the coiled spring mounted in one of the straps so as to bear on the pawl, the front and rear straps 5, 6 of the V-shaped sliding jaw 4 are adapted to receive the locking-dog 7, which is recessed at 8 to engage the strap 5, has ratchet teeth 10 normally forced into engagement with similar teeth 11 on the shank 1 by a coil-spring 12 in a recess 13 of the strap 6, and is formed at the end with a handle 9, by means of which the dog may be disengaged for rapid adjustment of the movable jaw. Hard steel gripping-faces 19, 14 of angular form engage in angular recesses 18, 13<1> in the jaws, and are secured therein by screws 20,17.
