Abstract

191,116. Zach, G. Sept. 7, 1921. Addition to 176,258. Grates; fire-bridges; baffles.-The grate described in the parent Specification is supported by plates to which the front and rear fire-bar bearers 3 are attached. The front grate bearers 14 consists of vertical plates 15, 16 connected by a bottom plate 18 and transverse plates 17. The grate bearer may be filled with ashes, sand, or the like in the same manner as the grate bars. The rear bearer consists of a plate 19 upon which is also supported the fire-bridge 20 composed of spaced bars of V, W, U, semicircular or like shape, and filled with ashes, sand, or the like. Air for combustion rises through a hole in the plate 19 and passes between the bridge bars. To deflect air upwardly through the grate bars, inclined plates 10 are mounted upon the front and intermediate fire-bar bearers 3, 4.
