Fire-bars and grates.-A travelling or fixed grate is formed of fire-bars comprising, as shown in Figs. 1 and 3, transverse bars c to which are secured by bolts f caps or frames d having bars e of tapering cross section cast integral therewith. Lugs g on the bars c engage with recesses h in the defending portions of the caps or frames. Transverse partitions j, j<1> are provided at intervals for strengthening purposes. The upper faces of the bars e are fluted, and the end caps or frames are formed with inclined surfaces l to rest upon guides.
