Abstract

Fire-bars.-A hollow stepped grate bar consists of a channel portion a, Fig. 2, and removable parts b forming the stepped fuel surface, which may be provided with vertical or horizontal air-passages c as shown in Figs. 1 and 3 respectively. Each part of the fuel surface is provided at one end with hook-shaped lugs d and at the other with finger-like lugs e, both adapted to engage with pins f oppositely disposed on the side walls of the channel portion a. Displacement of the parts b is prevented by means of feathers and grooves such as b<1>, b<2>.
