Abstract

1689. Holehouse, W. H. Jan. 22. Fire-bars and grates.-Fire-bars of the hollow type described in Specification 28,643/10 have projections on their side faces which form vertical tuyeres wider in both directions at their bases than at their tops in order to prevent accumulation of ashes in them, the boss having also spigot-and-recess joints to prevent leakage of air. Fig. 1 shows three forms of tuyeres D, formed by projections C on bars having air - supply troughs A, Fig. 4, which is a plan of the lefthand end, showing the spigots E and recesses F. Fig. 2 shows similar tuyeres on a bar with air passages A, Fig. 11, being a section through the centre of the bar. Only one modification of the tuyeres shown is intended to be used on any one bar. The upper portion of the bar shown in Fig. 2 may be separate from the lower portion in which are the passages A.
