Grates; fire - bridges; baffles.-A bearer for supporting fire - bars, fire-bridges, baffles, &c. within a furnace tube consists of a bar b, Figs. 1 and 2, having longitudinal slots c and webs a at the ends engaging with longitudinally - adjustable blocks, each comprising a top part d, Fig. 4, and bottom part e, which may or may not engage with the slot c, held together by a bolt f. Cheeks h adapted to engage with the furnace tube are pivoted at g to the blocks, and may turn in a vertical plane and, in the case where the lower part e of the block does not engage with the slot c, by slackening the bolt f, the cheeks h may be turned in an horizontal plane according to the amount of clearance between the cheeks and the bar b. A set-screw p aids in adjusting and securing each block.
