Abstract

176,258. Zach, G. March 16, 1921. Grates.-In a grate having fire-bars of V, W, U, semicircular, or other cross-section and composed of two or more sections, the sections 1, 1<1> are supported on U-shaped end bearers 3, the inner flanges 5 of which are notched to receive the bar sections, and intermediate U-shaped bearers, such as 4, both flanges 7, 7<1> of which are also notched to receive the fire-bars. The bearers 4 are provided with supplementary flanges 8, 8<1> which engage slots 9 in the bar sections. The fire-bars may be galvanized to prevent oxidation and filled with ashes to prevent clinkers from adhering to the bars.
