Spray carburettors.-Light or heavy fuel or both are supplied through the nipples 1, 2, passages 3, 4, a valve 8, and a passage 6 to a sprayer consisting of a tube 9 of large diameter. The primary air through the holes 11<a> is uncontrolled, but the fuel is controlled by a valve 13 notched at 13<a>, and arranged across the fuel duct 7<a> or co-axial therewith and in one with the sprayer 9, simultaneously with the supplementary air by means of the shutter 16. The shutter 16 works over an interchangeable ported plate 15<a>, and, by means of a pin and slot 17, has limited play relatively to its operating-lever 14, which is adjustably fixed by a screw 14b to the valve 13. The valve spindle is packed by a spring-pressed leather washer. When the shutter 16 is closed, supplementary air may enter through a port 18<b> and an automatic valve in the casing 22<a>. When the fuel is fed by suction, the suction is determined by a spring-loaded throttle valve 23 in the pipe 18. Non-return valves 1<a>, 2<a> are arranged in the fuel-pipes.
