Abstract

29,973. Challis, J., and Stephens, K. Dec. 24. Incandescent gas burners. - An inverted burner is provided with a lens-shaped heating- chamber e, Fig. 1, through which the mixing- tube extends. The part of the mixing-tube within the chamber is provided with a diaphragm plate f<1> and with apertures f above and below the diaphragm in order that the gaseous mixture shall circulate in the chamber c. The chamber c may be locked in position by a nut g or the like on the mixing-tube, and may be formed with globe-carrying arms and a reflecting under-surface. Additional burner heads controlled by valves the spindles of which extend through the chamber e, may be attached to the heating-chamber e, the valves or their operating-heads being preferably detachably connected to the valve spindle to facilitate removal.
