Abstract

182,909. Short, A. April 11, 1821. Plug-cocks.-A single plug-cock is used for controlling the supplies of gas and air to a gas burner. The valve body is formed in two parts 1, 2 which are screwed together, whils the part 1 is also threaded for attachment to a gas-pendant pipe, and the part 2 for attachment to a burner. A conical plug 3 has a central gas passage formed by two intersecting holes, 9, 9<a>, Fig. 4, connected by a groove 10. Two air passages 13, shaped as shown in Fig. 5, are provided, which communicate with inlet holes 11. When the plug is turned in one direction, the gas is entirely or partially shut off while air passages is fully open. When the valve controls the supply to a number of burners a constricted pipe 15 is fitted to secure the necessary velocity of flow.
