Regulating.-In a mixed - pressure turbine supplied with h exhaust steam from a high-pressure turbine and, when required, with live steam direct, the high and low pressure valves are actuated by valves operated by the pressure of oil in pipes III, II respectively. The oil enters the regulator by way of a pipe I, and flows through a pipe IV. A double valve e, f mounted upon a single stem is operated by a governor, and by more or less throttling the flow of oil varies the pressure in the pipes II, III. The valves e, f work within separate ported sleeves g, h, which are caused to approach or recede from each other by a double cam p, the position of which depends upon the pressure of the low-pressure steam operating through a pressure drum and suitable gear. The movement of the parts g, h varies the speed at which high-pressure steam is admitted.
