Gaseous-fuel furnaces.-Relates to regenerative coke ovens having vertical heating-flues arranged in groups and continuously traversed by flames and having also a longitudinallydivided oven sole flue. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, where the flame current is reversible, the heating-flues communicate alternately at the top and bottom, and are supplied at the junctions with gas from burners 6, 9. Air from a regenerator passes through flues 1, 2, and traverses a vertical flue 3, and the combustion products flow through flues 10, 11, 12 to flues 13, 14 leading to an adjacent regenerator. An additional supply of air passes from the foundation flues to the vertical flues through the passages around each burner tube. The flues 15 at the extreme ends are constantly traversed by gases from burners 9. At starting, gases from the ovens pass through flues 16 into the heating-flues.
