Abstract

19,104. Fabry, R. Aug. 15. Gaseous-fuel furnaces.-Horizontal or inclined coke ovens with vertical flues in which the direction of the draught is constant are provided with the system of gas distribution described in Specification 6813/10, in which ducts 10 supply gas through nozzles 11 to flues '1, 2, and in which these ducts and nozzles are cleaned by hot air drawn from the regenerators to conduits 21 connected to the chimney. Air heated in flues 25, 26 passes through flues 29 and passages 30 to flues 8 provided with dampers 19, and arranged at each end of the heating-wall. Gas is supplied to these flues from pipes 17 and from the ducts 10, and the products of combustion pass with an excess of air down the flues 9 to a flue 5, supplying the vertical flues 1. From the flues 1, the gases pass down the flues 2 to a flue 7 connected to the outlet flue 27 by a passage 31. Inspection openings 24 are provided as shown.
