Abstract

17,858. Lamplough, F. March 8. Two-stroke-cycle engines.-Engines in which pairs of pistons are each acted upon by a single impulse are built up of units arranged radially 90 degrees apart, each unit comprising a pair of cylinders with a common combustion chamber, and an adjacent charging-pump. Fig. 2 shows a unit in which a pair of cylinders f, f<1> are charged by a pump a through a port g, the construction of pump being similar to that described in Specification 19,610/09, [Class 7 (vi), Internal-combustion engines, Valves &c. for]. The pistons of the pumps and working cylinders are connected to cranks 180 degrees apart, each crank-pin receiving the connecting-rods of the two working pistons of one unit and the pump connecting-rod of the second unit.
