Plug cocks. - A plug cock is provided with a handle which is automatically prevented from actuating the e spindle when the handle is relieved from pressure. The hollow stem a' of the handle is provided with notches d adapted to engage projections c on the plug when the valve is to be opened. When relieved from pressure, the handle is pressed up out of engagement with the pins c by a spring j. A screw e, passing through the handle and engaging in a recess b<Î> in the spindle of the plug, prevents the handle from being entirely removed from the plug.
