Abstract

2409. Erith, C. Jan. 31. Separators. - An apparatus for separating suspended matter or impurities from gases or vapours, more particularly for separating oil and grease from exhaust steam, is provided with an inclined deflector a at the inlet for diverting into a well b any oil or condensed water which has accumulated in the inlet pipe. The steam thereupon impinges against a ribbed baffle e<1> down which thin streams of cold water are caused to flow, and divides into two currents each of which undergoes four right-angle turns in flowing past the edge of the baffle through an enclosed chamber e to the outlet h. A drain port e<1> is provided in the base of the chamber e.
