Plant.-An hydraulic turbine plant comprises a reservoir a under which are arranged a number of turbines, such as d, d<1>, d<2>, e, e<1>, e<2>, on one or more shafts, such as b, c. The turbines are arranged at different heights, and may all be run in series. By-pass pipes l ... l<3> allow any turbine to be used independently of the others, in which case the water is exhausted into an auxiliary reservoir (not shown), and afterwards utilized in a lower turbine. Each turbine is provided with a separate transmission shaft, or all the turbines on one vertical shaft may drive a common horizontal shaft.
