Plant.- In a marine turbine installation, each propeller shaft a is driven through gearing b, c by a low-pressure turbine h or k and a higher-pressure turbine g or f, all the turbine elements being mounted on separate shafts and the connexions being arranged so that either the higher-pressure elements f, g may be connected in series and the low-pressure elements h, k in parallel, or the pairs of elements f, k and g, h may be connected in parallel and the elements of each pair in series. In the latter case, an additional inlet v is provided for admitting steam direct to the higher-pressure element g. Astern turbines w may be incorporated with the low-pressure elements h, k.
