Lift valves actuating valves. - A working valve for hydraulic presses comprises a main valve a provided with a piston a<1> and having a differential piston d, d<1> above it working in the cylinder e. The pilot valve i has two spindles j, k controlling two conduits, one, a pressure conduit 1 connected to the pressure service pipe q, and the other, an exhaust conduit m connected to the exhaust pipe r. The conduit s in the valve is connected with the cylinder e by a pipe f. By opening the waste pilot valve the pressure of water on the stem d<1> raises the piston d and the valve a is free to rise by pressure of water underneath it. When this pressure is reduced the valve a will fall to its seat. Or when the pilot valve i is operated to connect the cylinder e with the main q the pressure tends to move down the piston d to close the valve a. The cylinders e, c are connected by parts u so as to be readily disconnectible.
