Abstract
17,526. Bickerton, H. N., and Robson, P. W. Aug. 20. [Cognate Application No. 4220, A.D. 1909, dated Feb. 20.] Gas and like engines, governing, stopping, and valves for. To vary the lift of air and gas throttle valves h, k worked independently of the main admisson valve, or to vary the lift of an exhaust valve, or the stroke of a liquid - fuel pump, a pusher c adjustable upon a rod a is moved by the governor between parallel faces on a camactuated lever e. The pivots d<1>, e<1> of the two levers are on opposite sides of the pusher so that a small adjustment of the pusher causes a considerable alteration of the stroke of the valve or pump-rod. The air throttle valve h does not completely close the air supply when not lifted by the cam. The lengths of the levers d, e are such that if the governor stops while the engine is running, the pusher moves beyond the range of one or other of the levers so that the valve or pump is not operated.
