11,270. Cole, J. A. May 14. Cam mechanism; lever linkages.-A combined link-work and cam mechanism is described for regulating the auxiliary air valve F of an internalcombustion engine at the same time that the cam shaft B<1> is moved endwise for altering the lift of the admission valve A. The lever C, Fig. 1, for controlling the position of the cam-shaft is connected by a link, a cam H bearing against the lever E which operates the air valve. In a modification, Fig. 2, the cord D operates both levers C, E. Pivoted to the latter is a cam J which bears on the stem of the air valve and receives an angular displacement about its pivot by means of a radius arm K connected to the lever C by a link. The cams H, J may be shaped to give any desired movement to the valve F.
