Abstract
111,553. Mathot, R. E. Dec. 11, 1916. Transmitting - mechanism. - A device through which a governor controls the stroke of an admision valve of an internal-combustion engine without varying the instant of admission, moves out of contact with parts connected to the governor as soon as the valve is operated, so that reaction of the valve gear on the governor is avoided. An arm n operated by the governor engages an arm m to swing a radius rod e about its pivot f on the valve lever g, so that its end moves to different positions along a pivoted link a operated by a cam c. When the valve k is opened by the cam the plate m lifts clear of the arm n to prevent reaction on the governor. The plate m is pivoted at l and a spring p absorbs shocks occuring when the parts m, n come into contact. A single governor may be used to control a number of valves.
