Valves; valve gear.-In combined fuel and air valves of the type comprising coaxial poppet valves opening in opposite directions, the two valves are arranged to be controlled by a single spring. The spring c bears at one end against a nut on the stem b of the air valve B, and at the other end against a nut a' on the hollow stem a of the fuel valve A. The valves are actuated by a cam D, tappet-rod E, and levers F, K connected together by a link H, fuel entering at c', and air at c<2>. Regulating.-The lever K is arranged to engage a hit-and-miss detent. L on a governor-controlled arm l. When the lever K engages the detent L, the latter acts as a fulcrum about which the lever moves so as to open the valve A. When, however, the detent is moved by the governor so as to miss the lever, the lever merely swings about its pivotal connection to the stem a without opening the valve. Adjustment is provided by the nut a' and set-screw f'.
