Abstract
8970. West, A. J. April 27, 1906, [date applied for under Patents Act; 1901]. Lift valves; piston valves; oscillating cylindrical valves.-In an internal-combustion engine, the air and gas enters the engine through ports 34, 35 in a hollow cylindrical valve 33 which is revolubly mounted on and reciprocates with a lift valve 14. The combined valves are reciprocated by a cam acting through a lever 22, and the cylindrical valve has a simultaneous rotary adjustment from a governor acting through the projecting arm shown on the right-hand side of Fig. 1.
