Circular knitting-machines.-Special sinkers 9 are distributed among the ordinary sinkers and are caused to draw long loops when required to form mock ribbed work or in the production of "all- " round " tuck - work, previous withdrawal of needles opposite lace holes being unneccessary. The tails 7 of the sinkers 5 are made longer than those of the ordinary sinkers and are bevelled at 9 so as to rock on the points 10, as shown, Fig. 3, on the insertion of a cam 13 while the ordinary sinkers are unaffected. The cam 13 is carried on a stalk 14 mounted in the plate 16, and can be depressed either automatically or by hand by turning a rod 17 carrying an arm 19. The stop-screws 20, 21 provide for adjustment. A spring plunger bears against flats on the rod 17, and retains the arm 19 either in the operative or the uplifted position.
