Abstract
2800. Francis, A.S. Feb. 7. Incandescent gas lamps.-The mixing-chamber a and the upper part of the burner tube b of an inverted lamp are enclosed in a conical or domed casing c closed at its base by an aluminium, porcelain, or like deflector j, and provided below and above the air inlets of the chamber a with apertures d, e for the passage of air. The apertures d, e may be adjustable, and are arranged out of alinement with the exits f for the combustion products in the deep globe ring h, and the aperture d may be provided with hoods or deflectors. The exits f may be provided with hoods in one with the globe ring or the deflector, and the casing c may be provided with baffles for causing the air to make a circuitous passage. Asbestos or other non-conducting material m may be arranged between the deflector and a superimposed plate l, and the burner may be provided with a secondary mixing-chamber p.
