Incandescent gas lamps.-The flue of an inverted lamp surrounds an air chamber enclosing the mixing-chambers of the burners, and preheated air passes in a substantially upward direction from the burner space to the air chamber. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the annular tapering flue c is constructed, as shown, with side openings for the admission of additional air to the air chamber p, the base of which consists of a truncated inverted conical piece t. Air is admitted to the lantern through openings n, x, and the combustion gases escape from the flue c into a central flue o.
